George Bush, in Just Six Words

Dear Readers:

Please forgive my recent absence here on the Blog. I was stricken by the 'cold from hell' that has been making the rounds here in Cochabamba. And one thing is certain, if there is something going around and you have a six-year-old, you will get. My particular case was marked by the delightful side-effect of seven days of non-stop hiccups. In a moment of desperation I calculated how many times I hiccupped, 90,000 mas o menos.

As I get back into things with a forthcoming post on the constitution vote coming up in 10 days, I want to pay homage to that other coming date next week, the return to Crawford of George W. Bush. So, I call again upon the poetic talents of our many fine readers to put this historic moment in perspective. I also really wanted to use this graphic. You'll figure it out.

So here is the challenge: George Bush, in just six words.

Some examples might be:

Mission Accomplished: The World's Fuc..d Up

A Uniter not a Divider, not!

Not the worst President, remember Buchanan.

Might have gone better, with booze.

I look forward to what you come up with.

Okay, Jim, now that the increasingly tarnished "da Bama" is about to be anointed, it's only fair to play your game.

6 words summarizing George W. Bush:

Y'all be dust; he'll be remembered!

W: Lefty intellectually retardeds' worst nigthmare.

George W. Bush will be vindicated.

No terror strikes under his watch.

W: right even when wrong...Jim.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Edward Gibbon did not pinpoint a particular date or event that lead to the fall of the Roman Empire, however, the fall of America as the world’s leading superpower (and as its moral leader) will be unequivocally linked to the Bush II administration. Evo should take heed from history and realize who benefited the most from the fall of Rome where her allies and not her direct enemies. Regardless:

Respectfully Jim ... this picture of a young girls legs should never be shown. Is their a limit on what the media can show ... I would be the first one to "hell no!"

But a blog relies on creating interest ... and generating emotional interest is the best way to go. Normally it is ideas based ... and it’s very easy to facilitate .... actually one doesn't have to try, this enables a news-blog service to remain completely impartial and have a viable readership.

But you are transgressing here without explaining it to your readership ... to me this is the ultimate sin. A news-blog site such as your selves should be educators ... in other words help facilitate art of self education.

This is very crude journalism ... especially when the subject matter is so sensitive and invokes emotion. I sincerely hope that you can take this onboard as being constructive criticism.

Todd,
I hope you're joking. Maybe I have just become unable to gauge sarcasm due to some posters on here and their ridiculous comments. Either way, that's the wicked witch of the west from The Wizard of Oz. Ya know: ding dong the witch is dead.

Todd, seek professional help. You maybe projecting latent pedophile tendancies on Jim by way of a Freudian slip. Also, try to understand Jim's use of a visual image from the Wizard of Oz to symbolize the end of Bush-Cheney's regime of terror. "Ya know: ding dong the [he-witch] is dead".

This is so juvenile. You all make both Bush and Evo look like geniuses. It is pretty arrogant on everyone's part to assume that you can judge President Bush at this early stage and to assume that Obama will be the savior of the world. These are just politicians...I can guarantee that they WILL make mistakes, they WILL have some successes, and they WILL NEVER make everyone happy. On a blog that is allegedly to help create democracies from the ground up, I am disappointed to find mostly ugly vitriol and little critical thinking and fairness. I found this site while looking for information on Bolivia since my daughters are 1/4 Bolivian but I am unsure whether I'll return. Nothing is ever black and white. Bush was not my favorite president and I did not agree with everything he did, but he was not an evil man nor unintelligent and he DID manage to keep us safe from terrorism from 9/12/2001 to date--Bill Clinton certainly cannot say the same during his term. Bill Clinton was not my favorite either but he was also not evil or unintelligent. He had some successes and some failures. I'm sure that we could find something to hate and love about every single president so why don't we learn from both the good and bad. And, dare I say it without getting called vicious names, we should pray that both Morales and Obama will be able to get past their massive egos, cultural barriers, past hurts, and false dilemmas to create a positive, mutually beneficial relationship between our countries. For my daughters' sake, I truly hope so!

This is so juvenile. I was searching for a site about Bolivia because my daughters are 1/4 Bolivian and all I find is vitriol and rhetoric on a site that alleges it is concerned about helping people build democracy from the ground up. Democracy is a privilege not a right. And with it comes some responsibility to act like you deserve it!

As a veteran of the Operation Iraqi Freedom, and as a member of a family with a long history of dying to protect people from other countries so true evil like Hitler and Mussolini and numerous other dictators could be stopped, I find it interesting that some of you have to nerve and temerity to call President Bush evil and akin to satan. A fledgling democracy is sprouting in the Middle East, people. And whether you agree with how it happened or not, THIS new democracy is what this site is purporting to want throughout the world. Or is it just like college, where we all sign petitions to "free Afghani women from the Taliban" in the early 90's and then balk when we realize that it actually takes money, blood, sweat, and tears to accomplish?

Perhaps it takes facing the loss of freedom to truly appreciate its glory. I have not agreed with everything any one president has done because I face the reality that no politician is perfect and no politician will ever make all the right choices--no matter whether left or right. Carter, Reagan, Washington, Bush, Clinton, all made mistakes in life and had successes...some better or worse than others. But to get sucked into the media hype about Bush being evil and Obama being to next Savior is truly sad. C'mon, everyone! Let's have some true discussions and some true dialogue about how to support democracy throughout the world. We're actually all on the same team...I think?
