This video series comes from LifeMosaic, an organization supporting indigenous communities to defend their rights. Includes videos on ‘Benefits of Territory’, ‘Land grabs’, ‘Land Rights’, ‘Company Tactics’, ‘Using the Law’ and more, based on experiences across the global South. The excellently produced, reasonably brief videos are available in several languages, and the website also contains other accompanying resources, and help on arranging screenings for relevant communities.
From ‘Company Tactics‘:
“Land use is often decided in regional and national spatial plans before communities know about it. Companies, politicians, local officials and security forces often work together to decide together what they think is best in the name of national development. Time and time again they decide together in the name of their own financial interest. This collusion between states and companies helps create the conditions for the takeover of community lands. Whether a company or government plans logging, mining, plantations, conservation or other land use changes, they often use an array of tactics to convince community members to accept and support their projects.”
